摘要
Biomarkers are critical components of translational research, enabling robust therapeutic and mechanistic hypothesis testing in early and late clinical development, and as precision medicine enablers covering the potential contexts of use e.g. confirm target engagement and pathway modulation, assess efficacy and response, PD/PK, safety, disease modification, patient selection or stratification, and compound differentiation that directly support program decision making. As a Scientist in Biomarker Development, part of Translational Medicine in Novartis, you will work in close collaboration in matrix environment with Molecular and Cellular Sciences activity lead and clinical teams to implement internal and external biomarker activities, provide interpretation of results to enable mechanistic, safety and efficacy understanding. You will be developing and validating innovative biomarker solutions, implementing new methodologies, delivering high quality data and playing a pivotal role in early phase human clinical trials continuing to advance clinical programs.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Molecular & Cellular Sciences (MCS) team within Biomarker Development (BMD) and Translational Medicine (TM) at the Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research (NIBR). BMD focuses on delivering fit for purpose integrated biomarkers leveraging diverse expertise and knowledge in immunology, biochemistry, bioanalytical, profiling assays, cellular biology and state of the art data sciences.
Our innovative spirit enables the development and application of cutting-edge technologies which address key clinical questions such as target engagement, defining disease stage or progression, predict the safety or efficacy of medication, select a group of patients who would benefit most from a given therapy, and identify additional clinical indications suitable for a innovative molecule.
About the Role
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate creativity and resourcefulness in identifying, conducting evaluation and implementing new cutting-edge technologies to fill biomarker needs and gaps
- Provide Subject matter expertise in soluble biomarker area (e.g., ligand binding assay, mass spectrometry,…) with knowledge in other biomarker modalities and technologies (e.g., flow cytometry, PCR, Next Generation Sequencing,…)
- Develop, validate and implement targeted singleplex / multiplex biomarker assays internally by working in labs and/or at external vendors via scientific monitoring.
- Execute biomarker plan and successfully implement biomarker activities (internally and/or at external vendors) to support clinical studies. Ensure quality and timely delivery of data
- Generate and interpret data to enable proof of mechanism, inform dose selection & proof of biology in clinical programs and present results at internal meetings
- Translate literature and mechanistic hypotheses into experimental designs that support the biomarker context of use
- Provide scientific oversight for internal and external collaborations including study design, QC strategy, and data interpretation.
- Publish and present findings at internal and external scientific forums.
Essential Requirements:
- MS in Biology, biochemistry or related discipline required.
- 12 years of in scientific and technical discipline of biomarker method development and validation in CROs or industry.
- Emerging technology leader who is passionate about driving patient-centric innovation by leveraging cutting-edge technologies
- Proficiency running variety of immunoassay platforms (such as MSD, Luminex, Ella,Quanterix Simoa), Mass Spectrometry, automated Western blots, Cobas is a plus. Experience with multiplex assays and profiling platforms is highly desired
- Experience in troubleshooting of assays and assay transfer to CROs
- Experience working in a global organization and matrix-resourcing model with good computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SoftMaxPro, SMART Book, Spotfire, GraphPad Prism, Watson LIMS).
- Illustrated ability to be creative, self-motivated, willingness to accept responsibility, work collaboratively and independently.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
The salary for this position is expected to range between $114,100 and $211,900 per year.
The final salary offered is determined based on factors like, but not limited to, relevant skills and experience, and upon joining Novartis will be reviewed periodically. Novartis may change the published salary range based on company and market factors.
Your compensation will include a performance-based cash incentive and, depending on the level of the role, eligibility to be considered for annual equity awards.
US-based eligible employees will receive a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, life and disability benefits, a 401(k) with company contribution and match, and a variety of other benefits. In addition, employees are eligible for a generous time off package including vacation, personal days, holidays and other leaves.
